Hello, and thank you for considering spending your Summer or fall working at Rolling Plains Adventures / Black Leg Ranch.

We are proud that our ranch is among the top guest ranches in the country, and the outstanding service we provide to our guests is what makes us "Miles Above Ordinary."

To maintain this high level of service, we screen applicants carefully and hire only those we feel will help us live up to our reputation. We are looking for qualities that will help us exceed the expectations of our guests. Good people skills are a 'must' for all positions. We want men and women who are enthusiastic, considerate, and genuinely friendly, and who will go out of their way to help our guests have a wonderful vacation. Our best staff members are hard working, dependable individuals, and flexibility is a key quality that helps us all get along.

All of our positions require certain skills. Counselors for the 6-12 year olds and teens, as well as wranglers, need to have riding experience. For other positions, determination and a willingness to learn will help you acquire the necessary skills after you arrive.

Compensation is by way of salary, overtime pay and room and board. Our guests pay a service charge rather than tipping individuals and employees receive a portion of this each month as a tip from the ranch.

Our summer season begins in late May and runs until mid-September. The fall season varies from mid-September to mid-November and the dates you indicate will be instrumental in our decision-making process.

Summer applicants who can work through Labor Day are given preference. We do not accept unsolicited applications for year-round work.

We begin accepting applications for summer positions after January 1 of each year.

After reviewing all applications, promising candidates are contacted for a personal or telephone interview. We begin these calls in late February and will be unable to give you a confirmation prior to that time. A firm job offer and a contract are forwarded by mail to successful candidates.
